RETAIL IN THE SPOTLIGHT

I AM IN ! 

Retail channels are constantly changing, made up of retailers who are also obliged to be increasingly innovative and search out the best concepts to drive their points of sale.

HAVE YOU INVENTED AN ORIGINAL WAY OF SHOWCASING PRODUCTS? Then let the world know about it by taking part in this new competition.

Les Quintessences will pay tribute to the initiatives that bring out the best in the profession: the best concepts from sellers of fine food, whether they be delicatessens, hotels, tasting areas, cafes, restaurants, etc.

This competition is open to all sectors of distribution, both in France and abroad.

The categories are as follows:

  • Point of sale category: organisation of events, special features, workshops, etc., the original optimisation and layout of retail space;
  • Digital category: online shop, drive to store, social media, apps, etc.;
  • Design/deco category: merchandising, POS promotion, etc.;
  • Sustainability category: an eco-friendly spirit, etc.

I AM IN ! 

The 2019 winners : 

  • Point of sale category: 
    L'Epicerie du porche, Acigné (Brittany): a very wide selection of products including fresh food, fruit and vegetables, etc. but more importantly an array of special events in the shop, and especially the opportunity for customers to come and meet the local producers. 
  • Sustainability category: 
    The grocery Au temps des Cerises Chateaubourg (Brittany): selects local products mainly from organic farming, small-scale production and loose goods (tea and coffee). 
  • Digital category:
    Le Sourire du Gourmet Obernai (Alsace): very specialist and chic products, but most of all a well-designed website offering a drive to store option (reserving products and baskets online and picking them up in the store) and also home delivery.
  • Design/deco category: 
    La Cave au Lions (Paris): a delicatessen with a junk shop atmosphere where everything is for sale in a quite original setting. Very niche and original products, a fine selection of wines from around the world, and a nice family affair. 
  • Judges’ special award: 
    Pyneau Prunutz, Auxerre (Burgundy): an all-Burgundy delicatessen which, in addition to having a compact range of very local and artisan grocery products (snails, ham, mustard, Chablis, etc.), produces a daily batch of fresh gougères (traditional Burgundy appetisers) that can be sampled on the patio in front of the shop on the square, or taken away.

The judging panel chaired by Raphaële Marchal is made up of experts and industry professionals who will vote for the most innovative and inventive ideas.
